Magical Yarns – "How It Came About and What It Means to Me"

I can still remember being about 12 years old, sitting beside my Dutch grandmother—my Oma—as she patiently taught me to knit and crochet. One of my first projects was a poncho, and I still recall the immense pride I felt wearing it, knowing I had created it with my own hands. Oma was an extraordinary woman, ahead of her time. She was a handcraft teacher when most women weren’t expected—or even allowed—to have a career outside of marriage. Her strength and determination left a lasting impression on me, shaping not only my love for knitting and crochet but also my own resilience and drive.

Over the years, I’ve explored many creative outlets, always returning to knitting, crochet, and premium-quality yarns. Now, it feels like life has come full circle. My passion for unique, imported yarns—their luxurious textures, vibrant colors, and endless creative possibilities—has grown into Magical Yarns, an online store dedicated to crafters who want something truly special. These high-quality yarns are mainly imported from the Netherlands, carefully selected to stand out from the usual options. Their rich textures often mean you don’t need elaborate patterns to create a masterpiece—the yarn does the magic for you!

Beyond my online yarn store,  For me, knitting and crochet are more than just hobbies—they bring peace of mind, a sense of accomplishment, and a spark of creativity that keeps me feeling young and inspired.

"You know, I think knitting is more than just making something with yarn—it’s like a meditation on life itself. Every stitch is a small decision, a moment of focus, and over time, those tiny choices turn into something beautiful and meaningful. It transforms not just the yarn but the person doing it. Plus, like life, if you make a mistake, you can always go back, fix it, and keep going—it’s incredibly grounding and insightful."

"Crocheting is just as powerful but in a freer, more fluid way. Where knitting is structured and rhythmic, crocheting allows for more improvisation. It’s like jazz, while knitting is more like classical music—both transform you, but in their own unique ways."

My journey also led me to designing over 200 fashion doll outfits, a passion that began with creating for my granddaughter. If you’re curious, you can explore my work at fashionforfashiondolls.com.

This adventure is about more than just selling yarn and accessories—it’s about fostering creativity, building connections, and experiencing the magic of handmade creations. Whether you're a seasoned crafter or just beginning, I invite you to explore Magical Yarns and find inspiration in every stitch!
